e-Discovery Centre

Information and Communication Technology

We aim to prepare students for the 21st Century by using technologies to enhance authentic learning. This is an area of focus for Sunnynook Primary School. The recently completed e-DISCOVERY CENTRE demonstrates our commitment to this focus.

The Centre is a flexible, dynamic, durable, and interactive environment integrated with current school structures, which promotes learning through practical and educational technological activities. We have called it an e-DISCOVERY CENTRE to encourage within the children a sense of discovery of the world through electronic and practical means. The space is adaptable enough to be used for a number of technological areas and other curricula with a practical component.

The centre has a Computer suite containing 18 brand new eMAC computers with an additional super charged computer and projector for instruction. The Technology suite is a large open space with modern cooking equipment and tools for creating. The Centre opens up onto the rest of the school in a welcoming manner and is an integral part of the learning environment at Sunnynook Primary School.

To complement the Centre the whole school is networked with each class having internal & external email and Internet facilities. Every classroom has between one and three Apple computers.
