Tēnā koutou Parents, Caregivers and Sunnynook Whānau,
There have been so many wonderful activities at school over the past two weeks!
There have been so many wonderful activities at school over the past two weeks!
The junior school had their popular ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ Event. It was good to see parents and caregivers involved in this. Our Y1-3 tamariki have also participated in ‘Safe Walking’ and we would like to thank Constable Murray Fenton for making this a fun and very valuable learning experience for our younger tamariki. Please support this learning at home by asking your child(ren) to look for cars with you to check that it is safe to cross the road and driveway.
The PTA held the Camp-out Event last Saturday and this was hugely successful. This is a fabulous community event and we are only 1 of 2 kura on the North Shore who provide this valuable opportunity for our families. Once again I would like to thank the hard-working members of the PTA and our school staff who contributed, making this a memorable event for our students. It was great to see some of our past students in attendance with their younger siblings too, and our new families. We have a number of photos from the event, so please look out for these in our newsletter.
Please make a note of our upcoming Mitey open morning followed by the Parent Workshop that is being held on the 4th April. Everyone is welcome to attend and more information is in this newsletter and a reminder will be sent out closer to the time. For parents and caregivers who are new to Mitey, this is a mental health wellbeing programme on offer to schools through the Sir John Kirwan Foundation. It is a schoolwide evidence based approach to mental health. You will have the chance to see how Mitey operates in your child’s class.
On Wednesday 26 March it is Epilepsy Awareness Day, and we will be encouraging everyone to dress in purple that day in order to support students at our kura with this condition.
Rooms 21 and 22 are really enjoying their new classroom and shared space. Much to the delight of our Yr 4-6 ākonga, our senior playground is open now that drainage issues have been able to be fixed. They have certainly been worth the wait!

Ngā mihi
